Caution
Be extremely careful not to get any water into the molten lead, or pewter alloy.
Even a small drop will explode into steam and violently splatter hot metal.
 
Wear safety glasses while working with hot metal.  Work in a well ventilated area.
Keep food and drink out of the work area.
Never ingest any of the filings and wash hands well after working with lead/alloys.
 
Melting or handling Lead-Free Pewter is not harmful but follow the above instructions.
 
Warning
